Step by step, the Three Monkeys collection is taking shape. Here I record where, how, and why new pieces find their way into it — from antiques fairs to chance encounters and extraordinary places.
There is no single path to finding the Three Monkeys. Sometimes it’s a flea market on the city’s outskirts, sometimes a little shop in a forgotten district during a trip, and sometimes… a message from a friend: “I saw these monkeys — do you have them already?” If I don’t — I often receive them as a gift. If I do — I’m simply happy someone thought of me. Because this collection isn’t just figurines; it’s also people, conversations, and emotions.
I buy online — on auction platforms, in collectors’ stores, on international antique sites. But the most moving finds come from flea markets. Each one is its own adventure — sometimes nothing, sometimes one monkey, sometimes a whole story. Meetings with other collectors have their charm, too — that’s when swaps, comparisons, and shared discoveries happen.
Collecting the Three Monkeys is more than a hobby. It’s a journey through a world of symbols, cultures, and everyday stories. In this section, I share what’s behind the scenes — not only the objects, but also what surrounds them: places, people, feelings.
